Lounge Reno Recap | Charmer in Alexandra
The previous owner had used this space as a bedroom, but with the flow through the the dining room - we decided this was the best place for the lounge. This renovation was all about enhancing the timber details, accentuating the fireplace and adding some impact pieces in the lighting and drapes. See how we did it on our reno recap.
Tips for a Lounge Renovation
Do it yourself! We discovered we could save A LOT of money sanding and varnishing the floors ourselves. It took the best part of three days but the results were worth it. See a full instructional blog here.
Work with what you have. If you don’t have a large budget then embrace what you already have and give it a new look. We took the wardrobe and up-cycled it into a TV cabinet. We took a borrowed couch and used a super king duvet as a couch cover.
Embrace earthy tones. This room showcases the new neutral colour trend that have a touch of earthiness. As it explains in Habitat plus - decorating and colour trends 2019: “The neutral palette of colours has always served us well. As the world goes mad around us we seek to create restorative spaces that soothe the senses and the mind. This colour palette also reinforces our growing environmental values but also the desire to be more carefree and less perfect.”
