HOW TO | Select Carpet on a Budget

You would think that having a lot of options would make picking a carpet for your renovation an easy process - but for many it is overwhelming and complicated. We have worked together with Carpet Court to share our tips for making carpet selections that will work well within a tight budget but will give you a designer look.

Tip One: Decide on your price point before you arrive in store. The best place to start is with a carpet selection you can afford! It also means you refine your search, giving you some different carpet ranges to select from, rather than every carpet on display within the store.

Tip Two: If you want to experience how the carpet feels, make sure you do so by standing on the carpet samples. It helps to be wearing a pair of clean matching socks too! Try the samples with underlay underneath. This will give you a true indication of how it will feel once it's on your floors.

Tip Three: When you are deciding on colour, view the carpet on the ground and remember that it'll look 20% lighter once it is laid in the room. Once you have selected a few options you like, take home the samples to text in your own home.

For The Reno Race we went with the Malmo Collection. They offer design inspired carpet in on trend colours at a affordable price point. Their carpets are Stain resistant, Fade resistant, Soil resistant, Eco-friendly, Alergy friendly and Pet friendly. The Malmo collection of flooring is exclusively available from Carpet Court retail stores nationwide. To see the range in person, visit one of their 57 stores from Kaitaia to Invercargill. This blog was sponsored by our friends at Carpet Court.
