The Original Reno Redo
Reintroducing our project “The Original Reno Redo”. This is the first home we brought together as The Pearsons back in 2010, it was the first house we renovated and were complete rookies! To sum it up - we had a youthful confidence which is probably best described as pure ignorance.
Before starting we created a budget ($15,000) based on no previous knowledge and hoped we could stick to it. We had talked with our parents and a few friends that had offered to help out, so free labour was looking promising. Our new abode came with stripped wallpaper walls, a bathroom that had been removed, smoke stains caked on the ceilings and some serious wear and tear but a whole lot of potential and great bones (although lacking gutters which were nicked just before we moved in). We worked on the house every weekend and free night over the next 3 months with a whole lot of help from friends and family. We were determined to learn and discovered as passion that has only grown since then.
With pride, we lived in the house with another couple for three years and since then, it had a long term tenant. With the desire to fund a property for our growing family, we are renovating to sell. Join us on the journey, as we completely transform the house that started it all!
The Master Bedroom in our Original Reno had a colour scheme that was all kinds of dark and dreary and it needed design salvation. With the power of wallpaper, oriental inspiration, and a wardrobe upgrade, we created our zen bedroom haven. Check out our latest blog with all the images, break down of cost and product information.
This exterior and yard transformation is all about tidying up the overgrown jungle and improving the street appeal. One benefit of owning this house for over 10 years is we have established trees and hedges to work with, the downside is that this area has not been maintained in a very long time...
The benefit of redoing this renovation (over ten years after our first attempt as absolute reno rookies) was we knew this house, we had a clear idea of what we wanted out of a kitchen and we had plenty of time to find the right layout and look. In renovation, time can be your greatest investment. So check out all the details of our new kitchen, laundry and dining room…
This colourful, playful room was inspired by our little girls. It is a sugar and spice (and everything nice) kind of space, with soft pastel tones throughout the interior design. Find out all the details of how we renovated this kids room and (more importantly) the reality of much it all cost.
The first time we renovated this bathroom we had no idea what we were doing, and you could tell! The second time around, we have the budget and renovating knowledge to make this bathroom stand out for the right reasons. Discover what products we selected and how we spend our budget in our #originalrenoredo Bathroom Reveal Blog.
Identical in look and layout, our guest bedrooms have been transformed from a tonal beige nightmare to dreamy, peaceful spaces. Everything is in our blog, from our room reveal video, images of the space, to the breakdown of the budget with links to the products we used.
Creating a great space doesn't need to be complicated. There is so much value in making an open-plan living room and using whites and soft tones to create a light, bright, inviting feel. Our latest blog shares exactly how we did it...
